Home Learning Update 14th April 2020
Please find below a letter and accompanying guidance which were sent out by email to all families today.
Class Weekly Learning Overviews are available on Class Pages.
Home learning-Google Classroom
During these unprecedented times, we will be doing our best to support you and your children at home. Please remember that we do not expect you to be teachers. This is not ‘home-schooling’ and we don’t want anyone to feel pressurised. Please ask for help if and when you need it. We will keep in touch with you through regular calls but feel free to email us if you need to.
Our main provision at the moment is through Google Classroom. Your child has been provided with their log in details and will be able to access the learning provided by their class teacher. We have also sent each child home with a ‘Home Learning Pack’ . The pack offers opportunities for you and your child to engage in activities together and many will serve as a springboard for other activities. Be guided by your child’s interests, your own interests and the resources you have at your disposal.
Your child has also been provided with their Accelerated Reader and Times Table Rockstars logins so that they can keep reading, quizzing and practising their times table facts.
Please keep an eye on this page as well as Google Classroom as we will be adding useful links and further home-learning activities over the coming weeks.
To help you to implement a routine, we have provided a possible timetable which includes learning time, active time, well-being time and the all important family-time.

Message from Mrs Dudman:
‘We are all experiencing a period of time that will go down in history and we would like to capture the experiences and thoughts of members of our school family at this unique time. Therefore, we ask that children and family members start a diary and write a few sentences (or more) into their diary each day – you could do this alongside your child. The staff will be doing this too! When we return to school we would like to collate extracts from these diaries with the aim of producing an SMC School Community Diary that can be shared with future generations.’
Please visit Class Pages for further links/support to support your child’s learning. It is also worth visiting ‘Our School as a Catholic Community’ for prayer/reflection opportunities.
Theatre Alibi – The Alibi Exchange
Each week, we’ll be challenging children to undertake a special task. And we’d love to see the results. In exchange, we’ll make something based on the things we’re sent. Perhaps we’ll film our actors reading out stories the children have written, or we’ll write a song inspired by some of their drawings, or maybe we’ll create short script for puppets they’ve made. There are so many possibilities! Keep watching this space.
Week 1 – Magical Creatures
We’ve been inspired by the beautiful unicorn in our production of
I Believe in Unicorns to ask children to create their own magical creatures and to draw and write about them.

We would love to see what your pupils have done We’ll share lots of the magical creatures on the Theatre Alibi website. We’ll also film our actors reading out some of the children’s stories and descriptions!
Please send photographs or scanned versions of your pupils’ drawing or writing to info@theatrealibi.co.uk by
Or else the children are welcome to send things in themselves. We’re really looking forward to seeing what they do!
All the best
