Well, it is amazing to think that we are already at the end of the first half of the summer term and what a busy few weeks it has been. We have really enjoyed our learning this half term and have found out lots of interesting things about Andy Goldsworthy. The library sent us some beautiful books of his work, so we have been engrossed in those. We also made mini clay models.
We have all loved our history learning about the platinum jubilee and Queen Elizabeth II. We made crowns and had a great big celebration in the hall with our friends and family. We also planted trees as part of the Queen’s green canopy initiative, thank you Mrs Bowles for helping us do this.
We hope you all have a lovely half term and enjoy some family time.

Well, what a windy end to the first half of the Spring Term! As always the children have been working really hard and persevering when things get tricky. We have really enjoyed our science learning and have loved looking at the weather and seasons. We have found out all sorts of interesting facts about significant individuals and their explorations in history. For our next geography unit, we will be looking at the farm and who gives us food. We started off the unit with a visit to Occombe Farm. The children absolutely loved looking at the different animals and plants. It was very muddy! We planted our own peas and then we cooked pizzas, making our own dough and adding herbs to our tomato sauce base. As always the children were impeccably behaved and used their manners brilliantly. It was so lovely to take them out of school for their learning, and for all of them it was their first ever school trip! Well done super Starfish!

How can we possibly be nearing the end of January already? What a busy few weeks we have had. Starfish class have started the Spring term with a real enthusiasm and positive attitude towards their learning. We are really enjoying looking at the story of We’re going on a Bear Hunt. We have hunted for bears in the school grounds, luckily none were found! We have looked at the sequence of the story and acted it out. We have been looking at the characters, descriptive language and contractions.
In maths our focus is addition within 20 and we have been adding by counting on, finding number bonds and adding by making 10.
In science we have been learning about the seasons and how the weather changes during the seasons. We are enjoying looking at our knowledge organisers and sharing these with our grown ups at home.
Our new history topic is explorers and we are learning about what makes someone a significant person from the past.
The reception children have been enjoying the continuous provision and have had fun acting out the story of We’re Going on a Bear Hunt. The oozy mud has been popular! Remember to keep reading at home with your child, the more they practice, the more confident they will become.

Well, we can’t actually believe that we are at the end of the Autumn term already and what a busy term it has been! The children have worked hard , persevered and risen to the challenge of their learning.
It has been wonderful to see all of the children participating in their daily Phonics lessons and learning all of their ‘special friends’. The Reception children have worked hard to learn their set 1 sounds and they are now starting to look at set 2. Keep reading at home and remember to use your ‘special friends’ to help you sound out your words.
During our English work the children have enjoyed wring their own versions of Goldilocks and the Three Bears. We had fun changing some of the things that happened during the story and it is great to see those changes in the year 1 writing. Reception children have been working hard learning to write their names and simple sentences using their sounds. The focus for Maths has been shapes and we have had fun looking at and exploring shapes and their properties.
We hope you have a wonderful Christmas together and a Happy New Year. We look forward to seeing you all in January 2022!

Well , what a busy half term it has been so far. We have had a great time looking at the Traditional story of Goldilocks and the Three Bears. We did some porridge tasting and tried lots of different toppings, many of us had seconds! The children have written letters from Goldilocks and thought very carefully about the setting of our story.
We have enjoyed exploring pumpkins and engaging with the provision. The year 1 children have been looking at addition and subtraction and the reception children at number and shape.
During Geography, we have looked at our local area and have been amazed when looking at Google maps – we could see our houses!
We are looking forward to Christmas and the Advent calendar is ready!

What a busy half term it has been! The children have been amazing and we are so proud of all their achievements.
We have been busy writing instructions on how to build a Duplo tree, using our time connectives.
In Maths we have been looking at number and learning all about part-whole models.
During our Phonics the children have been super busy learning their sounds and ‘special friends’.
In History our focus has been toys and in Science it has been materials and their properties.
In RE we have been thinking about families and how important they are and how how we are loved and cared for.
The new Reception children have settled in really well and as you can see from the photo, they are very happy. We can’t believe they have already been with us for half a term! We hope you have a wonderful break and look forward to seeing the children upon their return.

We Can’t believe that we are already in our fourth week of school, where does the time go? In Starfish class it has been so lovely to welcome all our new Reception children. They have settled well and are already learning the routines and structures of school life. The Year 1 children have grown up so much over the summer holidays and it is wonderful to see them supporting and encouraging the younger ones. We have been enjoying all aspects of our learning and the Year 1 children have particularly enjoyed having their ‘grown up’ Year 1 Power Maths books. This week we were doing Maths when Father Sunny popped in to see us. It was so lovely to see him as it has been such a long time due to Covid.
